The company plans to start flights between Sarasota-Bradenton and Nashville International Airport, Chicago Midway International Airport, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, and William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas.

Houston is a new nonstop destination for Sarasota-Bradenton. The airport started serving Texas when flights to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport began about two years ago via American Airlines, but Southwest’s service to Houston represents a brand new route for the Gulf Coast airport.

Siesta Key will likely see an increase in visitors from these major cities, as the private vacation rental market is booming with those trying to get some reprieve from the bigger cities into the fresh air and sunshine of the Sarasota area beaches.

Ascendia Group has already seen an increase in visitors, and the area anticipating a busy season despite the circumstances this year. Private vacation homes offer a safe environment meeting CDC guidelines which provide an outstanding home away from home for a week, month, or longer. With many families homeschooling and adults working from home, this makes an ideal time to travel.
